Meet the Founder

Hi, I’m Kim Dernbach, founder of IEP Clarity Co.

I’ve worked with children on the autism spectrum and students with special needs for over 15 years. My background includes working as a paraprofessional in a moderate/severe classroom, teaching middle school RSP, and most recently teaching TK–8th grade moderate/severe special education for the past two years.

I’ve written IEPs, collected and analyzed data, held annual, triennial, and emergency IEP meetings, supported families, and gained firsthand experience navigating advocacy and compliance concerns.

Over time, I realized many parents are expected to make major decisions without fully understanding the process or the language being used.

I created IEP Clarity Co. to help parents feel more informed, confident, and prepared when navigating their child’s IEP.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, MAT in Extensive Needs Support Special Education, and I currently work as an Assistant Clinical Supervisor for a crisis stabilization and advocacy-focused company.
